Alan Cohn leads as the president and CEO of AbsoluteCARE, which specializes in providing comprehensive primary health care services to at-risk populations in locations that include Baltimore and Greenbelt, Maryland, and Atlanta, Georgia. Alan Cohn is also a strategic partner with Avesis, a company that facilitates hearing, vision, and dental plans. To augment this work, he maintains an association with the National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP).

The National Association of Vision Care Plans was established to be a unifying voice for vision care companies involved in managed vision care, a rapidly growing industry in the United States. Managed vision care refers to a system which provides an individual and his or her family members with a pre-funded healthcare benefit specifically for eye care, similar to managed medical care. A managed vision care plan is important in that it provides various benefits to ensure convenient access to eye care services, helps to detect eye disease as early as possible, and maintains a standard of quality for the plans’ operations and their providers.

To carry out its mission to ensure consumer access to affordable vision insurance, NAVCP focuses on the areas of legislation, regulations, technology, communication, and credentialing and standards. The organization facilitates communication and industry collaboration, provides insightful information on vision care for providers and consumers, and advocates for legislation that promotes eye health. NAVCP also encourages and helps vision care companies to provide efficient services. Overall, the organization aims to improve vision care for all.
